Blamed a woman for being raped? Don’t work on campus

According to the VICTIMS, yes more than one, Scott Keene has under his time in the United States Coast Guard has promoted a culture that was misogynstic and often forced out women for reporting a rape. One victim has dozens of documents from Scott Keene stating that because she was raped that she no longer can serve in the United States Coast Guard. Another victim, with connections at Coast Guard headquarters were allowed to fight Scott Keene and keep her career and recently retired as a Chief Warrant Officer.
I do not feel that a man who did that should be working in an institution that has their own problems with rape and sexual assault in which survivors felt that the university did not take their allegations seriously should hire someone who is well-known to cover up and ignore rape allegations during his years working in the military. In the case regarding the latest (known) victim, the victim has dozens of copies of emails and official Coast Guard documents proving that he allowed under his command a culture that further abuse and victimize women that came forward with rape.

This is the email from Boston University. This is the patriarchy system that we need to fight. This email below is why I am writing this post and why I am dedicating all my time to ensure that students at Boston University are safe. Scott Keene may be in the finance department but he may or may not have connections, friendships and talk to others in departments that have a say in how a rape case is handled. The email has shown, to me, that without even requesting further evidence including the official documents that at least one victim is willing to make public that Larry Elswit by automatically dismissing our case.

If Boston University does not like what I say they have two options: They can sue me or they can work with me and the survivors to improve Boston University and take all who been involved in rape or victimization of rape victims removed from their campus regardless if they are a janitor or a Director. Boston University does not need them.  Protect your student or sue me. Your choice.

Good morning Isabella –
I am writing in response to your February 21 note, in which you claim that “Boston University put it[s] female students in danger” and that a University employee has “been involved in covering up multiple assaults throughout his Coast Guard career…” Your first allegation is false, and we have found no evidence to suggest there is any basis for your second claim.
Boston University treats allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault very seriously, and does not tolerate any form of misconduct based upon gender. There is no evidence to suggest that the University has knowingly hired any employee who might place our students, or our female employees, in danger. We can all empathize with the victims of sexual assault and their families, whether in the Armed Forces or on campus. This institution is extremely pro-active in its efforts to assure that all our students live, learn, and mature in a safe environment. To suggest otherwise, as you have done, is both unfair and untrue, since you do not have facts to suggest that BU in any way behaved improperly, or turned a blind eye to any employee’s past. I strongly discourage you from making any such suggestions in the future. We will not tolerate any false, unfounded claims that cause damage to the University’s reputation.
If you know how to reach ***** ***, I would be grateful if you pass this note to her. She also wrote about the University in this context and I have tried, unsuccessfully, to reach her.
With best regards,
Larry Elswit

I am a student at BU and I do not feel safe knowing that this man is on my campus.

    1. Did Scott Keene or did Scott Keene not finalize a rape survivor discharged from service?
    2. Did Scott Keene or did he not allow a rape victim to be further victimized under his command?
    3. Did Boston University at time of hiring or at any later pount found out what Scott Keene did to this woman?
    4. Did Boston University knowingly without asking for further information ignored your claims?
    5. Did the student body express concern on this matter?

If you answer yes to one or more of the following then continue speaking out. Don’t allow them to use scared tactics. Thank you for speaking out.

With your permission may I repost this post?

re post this far and wide. the documents AGAINST Scott Keene are so powerful that at the very least BU should acknowledge them. One of the victim does have a meeting with Boston University next week and with her is a signed petition with a shitload of name, mostly BU students, that won’t tolerate such behavior on their campus.

I served with Scott Keene and he is not a trustworthy, honorable man. I blame Thomas Daley for this for hiring him. Keene was just in need of a job and it was the responsibility of Daley to conduct a background check. They taught this rape in the classrooms at BU so it is not like they did not know what happened.

Larry Elswit was not there when Scott Keene did what he did to this woman. He should shut his fucking mouth and stop protecting his friend. The rape victims has emails, documents, witnesses and such much evidence. I hope he sues you so that ALL THE EVIDENCE AGAINST SCOTT KEENE WOULD BE MADE PUBLIC. No court in America can over look the evidence.

Larry Elswit sounds like he is protecting the good old boy club. Got to love it that he did put it in writing so now he can not deny that he threatened you with a lawsuit for stating your opinion on Scott Keene. People’s stupidity is usually what destroys them. He can not deny the threats now. Did you talk to the Boston Globe or another major press?

Apparently, in BU world, a man can tell rape survivors that rape isn’t that bad and that they deserve what happened to them, but god forbid a woman who actually HAS BEEN RAPED stand up to such a man and tell him where to put his hateful misogynist opinions then they’ll cry libel lawsuit. Boston University SHAME ON YOU.

Tell Mr Larry that one of the top notch lawyers in the DC area saw enough evidence regarding one of the cases that Scott Keene was the leader of the abuse to have enough evidence to sue the Pentagon.

Do this: emails, letters whatever the victim has DO NOT SHOW IT TO BU. The petition hold off till you get at least 5000 signatures (you at 1700 I heard so go back to BU and make the kids sign the petitions)

The survivor should bring a statement from her and a statement from the other survivor.

Tonight go on the news. I know that she has connections so call one of them and report this ASAP on like the 10pm news. This afternoon send press releases to all the major newspapers. If the choose to sue you or the rape survivor then even more evidence that they don’t give a jack shit about rape survivors. Can you even imagine how bad it’ll look for BU I can just imagine the headline tomorrow:

Boston University sues Rape Survivor who tells them who her rape apologist is.

Then the article goes on and say what Scott keene did to this woman.

Not the best publicity for BU now is it. Actually even if they don’t sue her show them this email

Is it true that boston university made her meet with two males? How insensitive is that: Let get a rape survivor be in a room with two men. Seriously, how crazy is that?

    • Feminist in Combat Boots March 2, 2011 at 6:32 pm

It is part of the culture. Did it even cross their mind that perhaps someone that is sensitive to the issues revolving around rape should be the BU rep to her? Probably not. It only shows the lack of concern and sensitivity to this matter that Boston University really is at.

I am the first of many victims that Scott Keene decided were not fit to serve, I was sexually assualted by FN Kevin Drane in female berthing on the CG Cutter COWSLIP, years ago. Scott Keene was the Executive Officer, I received no medical care or mental health assistance. It’s been a long time, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. Shame on you Boston University, how did he get hired? Are the students scared you better be, because BU employs a man that covers rapes and assualts up and then further victimizes the victim by telling them their not fit to serve their country.
    Shame on you.

Actually i am changing the title”

Boston University SUES Disabled veteran for making public the reasons behind her disability.

She wouldn’t have been rated at 100% if Keene helped her get medical and counseling. The reason she is disable is because of Keene not because of the rape. If she was given medical and psychological treatment after the rape and not delayed it her physical condition that resulted from the rape wouldn’t have been as bad as it is now. Because Keene refused her medical treatment it just sat around getting much, much worse. She needed surgery hat Keene forbidded her to have. The victim was beaten. Take this seriously. KEENE IS A HORRIBLE MAN THAT IS BRINGING DOWN THE REPUTATION OF BOSTON UNIVERSITY JUST LIKE HE DESTROYED THE REPUTATION OF THE COAST GUARD.

BU reputation was destroyed years ago because of several rapes. Remember that girl from 2001 who was raped then kicked out of BU and ended up at Tufts? Then she sued BU. Their response to students being raped? Hiring an ex-militant with a history and abuse and a well known rape apologists.
